PROM CHIP.  Programmable read only memory chip. A Read Only Memory (ROM) that can
be programmed only once.
RAM.  Random access memory.  A memory that has stored information immediately
available when addressed, regardless of the previous memory address location.
A fixed memory that cannot be rewritten.
ROM.
Read only memory.
1-11. EQUIPMENT PURPOSE, CAPABILITIES AND FEATURES
The teleprinter is an asynchronous dot matrix impact receive only (RO) printer. It
can:
an initial power-on test, an operational function test, and a
q Perform
computer-generated diagnostics test
q Display
fault conditions on the print position indicator (PPI) on the
control panel
characters in 132 print positions
q Print
10, 13.2, or 16.5 characters per inch (cpi) horizontal; 2, 3, 4, 6,
q Print
8 and 12 cpi vertical
on paper from one to six parts thick
q Print
line feed paper
q Automatically
q Sense
paper out and stop print operation
1-12. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS
The major components of the teleprinter are the logic circuitry, power supply,
print mechanism, paper handling components, control panel, print position
indicator, and data interface panel.
